Luther Residence Fees & Meal Plans
Our all-inclusive Residence Plans include fully-furnished, single room accommodations (with all utilities, free wifi, local phone service, and unlimited laundry machine use), and the choice of one of three meal plan options.

Early Payment Discount
If you pay for the entire semester before the indicated date you will receive the following discount:
- If Fall 2018 semester fees are paid in full by August 15, 2018 = $100 discount
- If Winter 2019 semester fees are paid in full by December 15, 2018 = $100 discount
- If both Fall 2018 and Winter 2019 semester fees are paid in full by August 15, 2018 = $225 discount
Meal Plans for Fall 2018 and Winter 2019
We know students have busy schedules and fast-paced lives but want more than fast food. We believe convenience means providing unlimited all-day access to nutritious home-cooked meals. That is why our all-you-care-to-eat cafeteria is now open 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. during the week and Noon – 6:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays. In addition, our 14 and 19 meal per week plans include $150 each semester to use at UofR food vendors and $200 each semester to use at Luther's Connection: Coffee & Creams. No other food service on campus offers such a comprehensive service at prices so affordable.
Students living in the Luther Residence choose from one of three meal plan options for the Fall 2018 and/or Winter 2019 semesters:
FULL TAX-FREE MEAL PLAN (19 meals per week) - $2,500 per semester
Best for students who plan to eat most of their meals on campus, or for athletes looking for regular calorie intake.
Note: Best possible price per meal.
The Full Tax-Free Meal Plan provides you with 19 unlimited dining meals each week (approximately 298 meals over the four month semester) that can be used during indicated meal hours at the Luther Cafeteria. This works out to $8.39/meal. The number of meals is reset to 19 every Sunday evening, and each semester a $150 UofR food vendors and $200 meal card for Connection: Coffee & Creams is also included for flexibility. The meal plan expires at the end of the semester and is non-transferable.
REGULAR TAX-FREE MEAL PLAN (14 meals per week) - $2,300 per semester
Best for students that go home on the weekends or skip a few meals during the week.
Note: Default meal plan if no meal plan is selected.
The Regular Tax-Free Plan provides you with 14 unlimited dining meals each week (approximately 218 meals over the four month semester) that can be used during indicated meal hours at the Luther Cafeteria. This works out to $10.55/meal. The number of meals is reset to 14 every Sunday evening, and each semester a $150 UofR food vendors and a $200 meal card for Connection: Coffee & Creams is also included for flexibility. The meal plan expires at the end of the semester and is non-transferable.
LITE FLEXIBLE TAX-FREE MEAL PLAN - $1,800 (declining balance plan)
Best for students with job commitments, internships, intense academic schedules, or taking courses at Saskatchewan Polytechnic where schedules may keep them off campus more often.
The Lite Flexible Tax-Free Plan provides you with a declining balance that provides approximately 10 meals per week that can be used at either the Luther Cafeteria during indicated meal hours or at Connection: Coffee & Creams during indicated hours of operation. You pay regular price for each unlimited dining meal (no GST), and your budget is approximately $16.36/day. This plan does not include a $150 UofR food vendors or a $200 meal card for Connection: Coffee & Creams. The meal plan expires at the end of the semester and is non-transferable.
The Luther Residence Contract spans two semesters; your semester begins on Luther Residence Move-in Day and ends 24 hours after your last final exam each semester. Extra fees apply if you are arriving early or staying over Christmas break.
You are financially responsible for the full term of your contract. If you have any questions or concerns, please discuss them with the Luther Residence office before you sign the contract. If you are under 18 years of age on the day you sign your contract you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will also need to sign your contract.
Residents are guaranteed a room after they have signed a Residence offer and have paid a $400 room deposit. This deposit is applied to the last month of the Winter semester Residence fees. A $500 damage deposit (conditionally refundable) is required and is payable upon move-in.
Payment of Fees
Residence fees are payable in full on move-in day as a single payment. You may choose to divide your semester fees into four payments. If you are receiving financial support from any agency, please let the Luther Residence office know and an appropriate payment schedule can be offered. A late payment fee of $25.00 will be applied to your account for each month that your payment has not been received.
