Congratulations to Pastor Fry!
Congratulations to Pastor Fry who was nominated through the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation for a Global Classroom's award. The award recognizes classrooms that have helped create a more just and sustainable world through engaging in meaningful global citizenship activities. Pastor Fry organizes an annual trip with our students to El Salvador. The focus of the program is based on justice, solidarity and becoming an ally with El Salvadorian people. Students learn about development issues facing El Salvador through the lens of Liberation Theology which serves as the motivating force for much of the justice work being done in El Salvador. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqv6_dRquFw
Luther College receives $1.75m donation to build new gymnasium
9 October 2013 – Dr Bryan Hillis, president of Regina’s Luther College, today announced that Gavin and Shaun Semple have made a major donation of $1.75 million to build a new, state of the art gymnasium.
“Shaun and I are pleased to provide $1,750,000 in financial support to Luther College through the Brandt “Thanks A Billion Program”. The Semple Family have had a long standing relationship with Luther College beginning in 1959 when I attended the college as a dorm student. Since then eight other members of the Semple family have benefited from the quality education provided by Luther College”, said Gavin Semple.
Luther College announces largest donation in the school’s 100 year history for the renewal and expansion project at the high school campus.
Prominent Saskatoon business owner, chartered accountant and lawyer, Merlis Belsher, a Luther College High School alumni and former LIT participant, made the donation to refurbish the current gymnasium and otherwise aid in the renewal and construction project. The current gymnasium will be named the Merlis Belsher Heritage Centre.
