Luther Invitational Basketball Tournament (LIT)

Since 1953, the Luther Invitational Tournament (LIT) has been more than just a basketball event—it’s a celebration of sportsmanship, respect, and high-level competition. Founded by John Chomay, our senior boys basketball coach and athletic director, LIT is one of the longest-running high school tournaments in Canada. Every February, our student-run tournament brings together top teams from across western Canada for three days of thrilling basketball

LIT is one of Luther’s most cherished traditions and a cornerstone of our athletic program. It’s not just about the games; it’s about the community, the hospitality, and the legacy. In 2016, LIT was proudly inducted into the Regina Sports Hall of Fame, a testament to its enduring impact.

Tickets

Tournament Pass (guarantees entrance for all three days):
5 years & under: Free
Grades 1 to 8: $15
Grades 9 to 12: $20
Adult: $30
Current Luther students: $10

Daily Pass (gains entrance for one day only):
5 years & under: Free
6 years & older: $10

Public Ticket Sale:
Saturday, January 31, 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the west foyer near the Semple gym doors.

If you are unable to attend the in-person ticket sale day, you can purchase tickets at the door during the tournament. The office will not have tickets for sale.

Alumni Events

Join us for the Alumni Basketball Game on Saturday February 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the Semple Gymnasium. Please bring a gold or black jersey if you have one. A limited number of jerseys will be available to borrow.

Following the game, all alumni are invited to a brunch at 11:00 a.m. in the cafeteria. Brunch is open to alumni who participated in the game as well as those who simply want to attend.

Registration is required for both the game and brunch.
