Getting Ready for Move-In

We are excited to welcome you to The Student Village. Please review the information below carefully to ensure you are fully prepared for move-in day.

When you arrive, use the Move-In Directions Map for easy access to The Student Village on the University of Regina campus.

Next Steps Before Move-In

  • Request your U of R Student Photo ID card
  • Purchase your Resident ePermit parking pass (if needed)
  • Order required textbooks

Move-In Checklist

Essentials

  • Bedding for a Twin XL bed (You may ship items in advance to the mailing address listed below.)
  • Toiletries and a carrying container
  • Towels and facecloths
  • Clothes appropriate for Saskatchewan weather
  • Footwear, including shower shoes or sandals
  • Hat
  • Swimsuit
  • Gym attire
  • Winter jacket and boots
  • Scarf, gloves or mitts, and toque
  • Health card
  • Government-issued identification
  • Debit or credit card, or cheques (bring if fees are not pre-paid)
  • Required medications
  • Glasses or contacts with cleaning solutions
  • Laundry basket, detergent, and dryer sheets
  • Electronics: laptop, phone, chargers, headphones
  • School supplies
  • Hangers
  • Alarm clock or app
  • Flashlight
  • First-aid kit

Cleaning & Appliances

  • Small refrigerator if desired (maximum 4.5 cubic feet permitted)
  • Room cleaning supplies such as spray and cloth (Floor cleaning supplies are provided.)
  • Surge protector extension cord

Optional Items

  • Desk lamp or reading light
  • Posters with removable adhesive (Fun Tac or removable 3M hooks only)
  • Small area rug (approximately 3 feet by 4 feet or smaller)
  • Bicycle and bike lock (bike rack available)
  • Musical instruments

What NOT to bring

  • Microwaves, toasters, kettles, or cooking appliances(Microwaves are available in The Cellar kitchenette.)
  • Space heaters or air conditioners
  • Candles, incense, open flame items, hookah pipes, shishas
  • Kegs or large quantities of alcohol
  • Large furniture
  • Halogen or fuel-burning lamps
  • Pets
  • Large audio or visual equipment, satellites, or unapproved communication equipment
  • Weights or exercise equipment
  • Large aquariums or items storing large quantities of liquid
  • Illegal, dangerous, or volatile materials
  • Items that obstruct hallways or emergency exits
  • Illegal substances
  • Heavily scented air fresheners, sprays, perfumes, or cleaning products

Fees & Payments

Residence fees may be paid in advance of move-in by contacting the Financial Office at luther.finance@uregina.ca or 306-585-5333.

On move-in day, students are required to provide a $400 damage deposit, which is conditionally refundable, along with either full semester fees or the first month’s rent if enrolled in a payment plan.

Residence fees are due on the first business day of each month. A $25 late fee will be applied for each month that payment is not received. Students receiving financial support from an agency should notify the Luther Financial & Residence Office so that an appropriate payment schedule can be arranged.

Students in need of financial aid are encouraged to explore available options through the University of Regina website.

Airport Arrivals

If you are arriving at the Regina airport, please follow these steps:

  • Bring at least $20 Canadian cash for the taxi fare.
  • Collect your luggage at baggage claim after exiting your flight.
  • Locate the taxi coordinator near the main airport exit.
  • The coordinator will direct you to an available taxi.
  • Tell the driver clearly:
    Luther College at the University of Regina, 3829 Lee Gren Avenue (Do not request Luther College High School).

If you require assistance, airport staff are available 24 hours a day.
