Online/Blended Course Developer – NSLI 230: Nonprofit Communications and Strategic Relationship Building
Description of Duties
Luther College at the University of Regina (www.luthercollege.edu/university) invites applications for a term position (May 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027) for an online/blended course developer for the NSLI 230: Nonprofit Communications and Strategic Relationship Building course that is part of the Nonprofit Sector Leadership and Innovation Certificate.
Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with the Instructional Design (ID) Team from Flexible Learning Division (FL), Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). This team will include:
- Instructional Designer and Project Lead
- Graphics/Multimedia Specialist
- FL Administrative Personnel
- Lend your content expertise to the development of an online/blended course, which includes conceiving, developing, and writing course material.
- Complete course development work in accordance with the deadlines indicated by the flexible learning team throughout the length of the agreement.
- Work with the Nonprofit Voluntary Sector Studies Network (NVSSN) Director to integrate service-learning components into the work.
Course Description:
This course provides an overview of communication strategies and relationship building for nonprofit organizations. Students will learn the fundamentals of strategic communication planning, including identifying target audiences, and crafting key messages and timely responses. Students will explore relationship building with various nonprofit stakeholders such as donors, volunteers, board members, and community partners. Topics will include donor communication, volunteer recruitment and management, nonprofit marketing, and branding, and building partnerships with community groups. Students will gain applied experience by developing a communication strategy and relationship building plan for a nonprofit organization. Through course readings, discussions, and assignments, students will develop an in-depth understanding of the critical role that strategic communication and relationships play in the success and impact of nonprofit organizations.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Develop a strategic communication plan tailored for an organization and craft targeted messages for different audiences such as donors, volunteers, board members, and community partners.
- Implement effective communication and relationship building approaches.
- Build relationships with other community groups and partners through collaboration and partnership.
- Apply key concepts from nonprofit marketing, branding, and public relations to raise awareness about a nonprofit organization and promote its mission and programs.
Qualifications
PhD preferred and/or equivalent experience and education
