Rev. Dr. Marc Jerry Installed as 8th President of Luther

On October 18, 2020, Rev. Dr. Marc Jerry was installed as the eighth President of Luther College. The installation served as the official ceremony where President Dr. Jerry was formally conferred the responsibilities and duties of Luther College. The ceremony was a small, private worship service held at Christ Lutheran Church in Regina, SK. Dr. Jerry has been with Luther College since July 1, 2020.

“The Board of Regents is extremely pleased and grateful to have found a person of Rev. Dr. Jerry’s calibre and experience to serve as President,” indicates Karl Tiefenbach, Board Chair, Luther College Board of Regents. “His rare double calling to parish ministry and university academia initially attracted us, but it was his enthusiasm, creativity, and partnership building skills that really won us over."

"On behalf of the University of Regina, I wish to congratulate Dr. Jerry on his installation as President of Luther College," says Thomas Chase, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina. "Luther has a long and distinguished history as an important part of the University of Regina academic community, and I am confident that our partnership will continue to thrive and benefit students under Dr. Jerry's leadership."

“Luther College has an exciting future ahead and I am so grateful for the chance to be a part of the team,” reveals Dr. Jerry, President of Luther College. “Since arriving at Luther, I have been most impressed and proud of the compassion, dedication, and resilience of our highly talented faculty and staff, who continue to work tirelessly for our students and their families during the pandemic. I look forward to continuing Luther College’s tradition of providing academic excellence so that our graduates are able to succeed in a post-pandemic world by helping to not only care for their own community but also on a national and global scale no matter what vocation they may pursue.”

For over a century, Luther College has provided a quality education in a Christian context to thousands of secondary and post-secondary students. The seven Presidents prior to Dr. Jerry each made their own unique contribution to the College. It was their strong leadership and dedication that helped to shape Luther into what it is today: a well-respected institution distinguished by the Lutheran heritage of excellence in scholarship, freedom to pursue the truth, and an awareness of living in God’s grace.
