June 2017 "Common Threads: Weaving a Stronger Nonprofit Sector"

On June 9, 2017, the Voluntary Sector Studies Network (VSSN) and the Saskatchewan Nonprofit Partnership (SNP) co-hosted their second annual conference at Luther College at the University of Regina. The event featured Bruce MacDonald (President and CEO, Imagine Canada), Dr. Cindy Hanson (Faculty of Education, University of Regina), Jeph Maystruck (Co-founder, Strategy Lab), and Dr. Gloria DeSantis (Department of Justice Studies, University of Regina). This year’s conference welcomed more than 100 individuals—students, nonprofit organizations, and university faculty and staff—who gathered to network and explore trends, challenges, and opportunities in the nonprofit sector. The main goals were to explore and discuss policy, advocacy, inclusivity, and promotion of the nonprofit sector; share updates on VSSN & SNP; and provide networking opportunities.

The positive response from our 2016 and 2017 conference clearly indicates the need for further opportunities to build collaborations and incubate innovative ideas that strengthen the nonprofit sector in Saskatchewan. The third annual conference is tentatively scheduled for June 15, 2018. Mark your calendars and watch for more information!
