Janet Bjorndahl (U’79)

Janet Bjorndahl, in her first term of service, has served on the Board of Regents since 2015.  She is an IT Analyst specializing in database design, and a strong advocate for the protection of privacy of personal data.

Janet is an alumna of Luther College at the University of Regina (U’79) with a double major in Mathematics and Computational Science. Her daughter, Judith, is an alumna of Luther College High School (HS’13) and is currently attending Luther College’s University campus, majoring in Biology.

Janet believes that Luther College – both High School and University campuses – plays an important role in the lives of its students, and in the larger community. In her own personal experience, the faculty and chaplains at Luther encouraged her spiritual development and social justice awareness, and she is grateful that Luther College continues to do so for many others. Janet is passionate about giving back to Luther College as a Board member because, “Luther provides an encouraging and challenging environment in which students can pursue excellence in academics, fine arts, and athletics. Excellence in teaching is paired with caring for the whole student – socially, spiritually and academically. Luther is a place where students bloom.”

In her spare time, Janet does some volunteer work at her church, Eastside United, and contributes to the genealogy wiki site WeRelate.
