Prize Winners & Scholars

Luther College is proud of many alumni who have received national and international academic recognition.

Nobel Prize

Luther College alumni also receive international academic recognition. In 1983, in honour of his work in the study of mechanisms of electron transfer reactions in metal complexes, Dr. Henry Taube (HS'32, HSU'33) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Dr. Taube graduated from Luther College in 1933.

Rhodes Scholars

Three Luther College High School alumni have been recipients of Rhodes Scholarships: Greg Brandt (HS’55), Robert Condon McKenzie (HS’66), and Jonathan Pedde (HS’10).

One Luther College at the University of Regina alumnus was also a Rhodes Scholar: Dr. Bryan Hillis (U'78).

Loran Scholar

In 2019, Chan Min Roh (HS'19) was named a Loran Scholar, the first one from Luther College.

Order of Canada

Two Luther College graduates are Officers of the Order of Canada: Dr. Lloyd Barber (HS’49, HSU’50), and Dr. Robert Steadward (HS’64).
