The International Baccalaureate provides an enriched curriculum that both covers and extends beyond regular Saskatchewan curricula in its depth and detail. It emphasizes the development of the necessary critical skills that university-bound students need to master: reflecting, inquiring, thinking, analyzing and evaluating.
Did you know there is a 3rd floor to the boy's dorm? It was traditionally assigned to upper level students who were more mature & responsible. Students who lived up there in the 1940’s confessed, in hushed tones, to having a radio when those devices were against school policy.
The Tuck Shop for snacks was at the bottom of the south stairs going to what is now the cafeteria. The legendary beans in a cone were considered a healthier & cheaper alternative to what students purchased across the street at the Aintree.
Luther students, even though from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, have the opportunity to be part of tightly woven community of students, parents, alumni, teachers and staff. Typically 12% of the school’s student body originates from outside of Canada.
Luther College High School is recognized as one of the four best university preparatory schools in western Canada with as many as 96% of Luther graduates pursuing post-secondary educations.
Luther graduates have gone on to universities such as Harvard, Oxford, Pennsylvania State, McGill, Queen’s and other renowned educational institutions throughout Canada, North America and the world.
Students admitted to Luther College are not required to be Lutheran or Christian. By welcoming students of all faiths and religious backgrounds, Luther College enjoys a richly diverse student body.
The first LIT was held on January 31, 1953. That year it was a one-day tournament involving sixteen teams from Southern Saskatchewan. All preliminary games were played cross court, two games at a time.
Apply for Financial Aid
Luther College offers a range of financial support options, including scholarships, bursaries and financial aid. Applications are due March 1. Some scholarships and bursaries are for academic merit; others are for financial need; still others address the interests of students. All students are encouraged to review the scholarships and apply, where applicable.
Luther College will do its best to ensure that no one is excluded from attending Luther due to financial reasons. Luther College High School offers financial aid to qualifying Canadian students and families. Students and families interested in applying for financial aid will be required to provide details of their family income, living expenses, assets and debts. This information is assessed by an independent third party, Apple Financial Services on a confidential basis.
The Apple Financial Services website for financial aid will show an application fee of $100.00. However, Luther College High School subsidises half the cost, therefore your financial aid application fee is $50.00. This subsidised fee will be indicated once you have created your account on the Apple Financial Services website. The $50 fee is non-refundable and must be paid before an application is assessed. Financial aid must be applied for on an annual basis. Please apply early as funding is limited.
