Bursaries & Financial Aid

The Oberg Family Bursary is awarded to new students who have demonstrated financial need and exhibit strong academic proficiency in elementary school, leadership in student body government, and well-rounded involvement in athletics, music, or arts. Please submit a reference letter from a teacher speaking to the student’s leadership abilities and co-curricular involvement.

The Central Evangelical Lutheran Church of Regina Student Bursary is awarded to students of academic promise who, due to financial constraints, would not otherwise be able to afford to attend Luther College High School. The bursary was established by the Central Evangelical Lutheran Church of Regina in 2019. It is awarded once every four years.

The Luther College Community Bursary is awarded to deserving students with financial need who demonstrate academic achievement and a keen interest in learning, a positive attitude, proven leadership abilities and a strong desire to succeed. This bursary may cover up to the full tuition to Luther College High School (in consideration of the result of the Apple Financial assessment) and may continue through Grade 12 providing students maintain good academic standing, and continue to meet eligibility requirements. The Luther College Community Bursary covers only tuition. It does not include IB, Film, Phys Ed, ESL, Meal or bus plans.

The Dilawri Award for Students of Promise was established by the Dilawri family and Luther alumnus Ajay Dilawri (HS'86) for students of academic promise who, due to financial constraints, would not otherwise be able to afford to attend Luther College High School. This bursary covers annual tuition fees, dorm fees and may provide for other additional costs provided the student maintains good academic standing.

The Vic & Candice Husak-Grotsky Family Tuition Bursary was established by Luther alum Candice, nee Husak (Class of 1988) and her husband Craig Grotsky in honour of all alumni, teachers, parents and spouses who passed through the halls of Luther College but especially to honour Candice's father Vic Husak and Candice's mother Raylene who believed in the importance of education. This bursary provides financial assistance to a local day student who demonstrates academic achievement or promise and community service with a keen interest in literature and learning who, due to financial constraints, would not otherwise be able to attend Luther College High School. It is awarded once every four years.

The Kramer Family Bursary was established by the Kramer family for Indigenous students who show academic promise but due to financial constraints and socio-economic factors would not otherwise attend Luther College High School. This bursary covers annual tuition fees, dorm fees and may provide for other additional costs provided the student maintains good academic standing. It is awarded to Indigenous students who demonstrate academic promise, a positive attitude, a willingness to work hard, and a student desire to succeed as well as financial need.

The Denise (Stratychuk) and Jim Mearns Memorial Bursary is awarded to a new Grade 9 student entering Luther College who has demonstrated financial need. It is a renewable bursary for up to four years.  The award was established in 1995 by Janice and Peter Stratychuk in memory of their daughter Denise and her husband Jim. Denise attended Luther College High School for four years, graduating in 1982.

The Nelson Family Bursary is awarded to an academically-minded and well-rounded student who has demonstrated financial need. The bursary was established by Dwight and Christine Nelson in 2021. Their sons, Jeremy and Adam, both attended the high school. Dwight also served on Luther’s Board of Regents.

The Ritenburg Family Bursary is awarded to students who have demonstrated financial need and show a particular interest in the performing arts (music, dance or drama). It is a renewable bursary of $1,000 per year for up to four years (Grades 9 to 12).  This bursary was established by Jim and Jacquie Ritenburg to recognize the positive influence the school had on their family. Jim graduated from Luther in 1977, and daughter Laura graduated in 2004.

The Semple Family Bursary is awarded to students coming to Luther College High School from Mother Teresa Middle School.  It is a renewable bursary for up to four years. The bursary was established by Gavin and Annette Semple in 2021.

The Joan Sexton-Kusisto First Nations & Metis Bursary was established in 2006 by Joan's family to honour her memory. Joan graduated from Luther College High School in 1977. She was a caring, compassionate person who, as a teacher, wanted to make a difference in the lives of the First Nations students she taught. This bursary covers annual tuition fees, dorm fees and may provide for other additional costs provided the student maintains good academic standing. It is awarded to First Nations and/or Metis students who demonstrate academic achievement, a keen interest in learning and financial need. Preference is given to students from core Regina schools, including Albert and Kitchener.

The Single Parent Tuition Bursary is awarded to a student from a single-parent family who has demonstrated financial need and who otherwise could not afford to attend Luther College High School. It is a renewable bursary of $3,000 per year for up to four years (Grade 9 to 12). The bursary has been made available through a generous donation from an anonymous donor.

The Vanderhooft Family Bursary is intended for students who otherwise could not afford to attend Luther College High School. The bursary is awarded to students who have demonstrated financial need and who have academic potential and strong athletic abilities, particularly in basketball or girls' volleyball. It is a renewable bursary, up to four years (Grades 9 to 12), that provides up to full tuition funding. This bursary was established by Rob and Lois Vanderhooft whose children attended Luther College High School and participated in the school's athletic programs.
