Growing enrolment made it obvious that Luther Academy was outgrowing its facilities. At the end of the 1925 - 26 school year, the Academy in Melville closed its doors. Construction was underway on a new campus. Luther College opened on Royal Street in Regina in September of 1926, with 108 students registered. Under principal Dr Rex Schneider, the newly built school consisted of classrooms, laboratories, kitchen and dining facilities, and dorms for both the male and female students. In these years, Dr Schneider established a reputation for academic excellence at Luther College. The fall of 1926 also brought university courses to Luther through its affiliation with the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and Capital University in Ohio.
