HIGH SCHOOL

Holiday cheer at the president’s house

In December 2010, the Luther College High School alumni office invited the school’s many young alumni to join the Drs Hillis at the president’s house for an evening of conversation and Christmas festivities. Over 70 young alumni attended the event. The evening also served as a fundraiser with proceeds going to the purchase of a new couch in the grade 12 student lounge.

Alumni hockey game

Over 30 alumni gathered for the annual Luther College High School alumni hockey game. Alumni in attendance ranged from the classes of 1969 to 2010. After spending 90 minutes on the ice, players gathered in the lounge of the co-operators center for snacks and refreshments. We look forward to seeing everyone next year!

Alumni basketball game

The Luther College High School alumni office welcomed over 30 alumni back to their home court during this year’s annual LIT weekend alumni basketball game. After a solid four quarters of basketball, alumni attended a brunch at the president’s house. Thanks to everyone in attendance, and see you next year.

UNIVERSITY

2011 Forward Together Lecture

On Wednesday 30 March, the University of Regina, First Nations University of Canada, Campion College and Luther College celebrated their shared histories at the annual Forward Together Lecture. University of Regina history professor and author Dr James Pitsula delivered an address entitled “‘A House With Many Mansions’: The Shared Centennial Legacy of the University of Regina and the Federated Colleges” to an enthusiastic audience in Luther’s Rex Schneider Auditorium. In his lecture, Dr Pitsula looked at the origins of Campion College, First Nations University of Canada, Luther College and the University of Regina. Through photos and other archival material, he brought to life the formative events that have shaped the institutions’ development, arguing that there is a core storyline to the past 100 years that has resulted in linked and shared destinies for the University and the Federated Colleges.
