Ross Madsen (HS’50) wrote to The Luther Story in November 2010, identifying the historic photo in the fall 2010 / winter 2011 issue as Paul

Liefeld’s 1950 chemistry class. Along with Ross, some of the people in the photo are Lorraine Frostad, Jim Hockley, Bruno Hoever, Loveday Lemon, Anne Steward and Walter Posehn. In his letter, Ross writes:
I have many fond memories of Luther: baseball, rugby, Mr Ast, and, of course, Prexy, who got so mad one night when the second and third floor got into a water fight with pails and the fire hoses. Water was running down the stairs right to the basement. Kicked us all out for what was supposed to be for one hour—it was -20 F. Someone said the stadium was open for Rec Hockey, so away we went… We were gone for over two hours and he didn’t have any idea where we were, so then he was really angry… After a month or so when it got mentioned, he had just as big a laugh as anybody.
I only have had contact with a couple of the old gang—I see Lloyd Carlsen when he comes back here to visit his family members. Wonder at times what they are doing. A number will be dead, including my roommate of about 10 years ago, Ernie Roehl—best baseball catcher I ever pitched to, and I did that for a good many years after Luther.

On a personal note, I married Lorraine Kreinke from Southey in 1958 and we have three children—two are married, and we have five grandchildren, four boys and one girl. We don’t see much of them as two are in Calgary, and three boys are in Iowa, USA.
I still do a little farming and have raised Polled Hereford Cattle for nearly 60 years. I have the honour of being on the Canadian Hereford Association Honour Roll and the Saskatchewan Livestock Honour Scroll, and I wass chairman of a number of other boards including Reeve of local municipality for 18 years. Quit all boards in the fall of 2006.
I am sending along with this a copy of the 1949-50 Luther yearbook. Go Luther go!

We were honored to be invited to attend the wedding of Wakana Konno (HS'01) in Hakuba, followed by several get-togethers in Tokyo and Seoul with Luther alumni from the classes of 1992 and 2001 through 2008.
