The future of Luther College

When founded in Melville in 1913, Luther Academy was based on Martin Luther's principles for quality Christian education. When the Academy closed its doors and moved to Regina in 1926 to re-open as Luther College, the institution continued to strive for excellence in all that it does. Extending its first-year university courses to a full degree program in partnership with the Regina Campus, University of Saskatchewan (now the University of Regina), Luther College expanded to a second campus. With the growth of the College, the changing faces of students and faculty, and an ever-shifting global context, Luther College has adapted to meet the needs of its community. Nevertheless, Luther remains committed to the principles on which it was founded more than 95 years ago.  Today, Luther College still strives to educate the whole person—mind, spirit, and body—and to prepare young and more mature students alike to learn and serve throughout their lives. Now serving over 1 000 students at its two campuses, Luther College’s growth and longevity attest to the value placed on a challenging liberal arts education. This, coupled with other distinctive dimensions of the educational experience at Luther College, continues to be our raison d’être.
